Neptune Neptune is the eighth planet from the Sun. It is the third largest planet with respect to mass, and the fourth largest in terms of diameter. Neptune was named after the Roman god of the Sea because of its Blue color. Some Amazing Facts About Neptune: 1. Year And Day     Neptune takes 164.8 Earth years to orbit the Sun. It means Neptune completed its first full orbit on 11 July 2011  since its discovery in 1846.   Neptune  take 18 hours to complete one rotation which is noticed via it's equatorial clouds. 2.Temperature    Neptune is the second coldest planet after Uranus in our Solar System. It has an average surface temperature of -214°C (approximately -353°F). 3.Atmosphere    Neptune’s upper atmosphere is composed of 80% hydrogen (H2), 19% helium and trace amounts of methane. The traces of methane absorbs red light, which makes the planet appear a lovely blue. 4.Spacecraft Mission   O...

Uranus Uranus is the seventh planet in the Solar System and third of the gas giants. It is the third largest planet by diameter, and fourth most massive. Some Amazing  facts about Uranus:  1. Year      Uranus takes 84 Earth years to orbit the Sun.The summer in Uranus is 42 years long.                                                  2.Axial Tilt     Uranus is tipped over on its side with an axial tilt of 98 degrees,so its north and south poles lie where most other planets have their equators.                                                                                       ...

Saturn Saturn is the sixth planet from the Sun. It is best known for its fabulous ring system .It is the second largest planet in our solar system .  Like Jupiter, it is also a gas giant and is composed of similar gasses including hydrogen, helium and methane. Some amazing facts About Saturn: 1.Visible to naked Eye    It is the fifth brightest object(after Sun,Moon,Venus and Jupiter) in the solar system and is also easily studied through binoculars or a small telescope.                                    2.Year and Day    Saturn spins on its axis very fast. A day on Saturn is 10 hours and 14 minutes, whereas Saturn goes around the Sun very slowly. A year on Saturn is more than 29 Earth years.                                 3.Rings   Saturn is best known for ...

Jupiter Jupiter is the largest in the   Solar System  and fifth planet from the Sun. It is a gas giant planet with a mass one-thousandth that of the Sun, but two and a half times that of all the other planets in the Solar System combined. Some amazing facts About Jupiter: 1.Visible to naked Eye    Jupiter is the fourth brightest object in the solar system. Only the Sun, Moon and Venus are brighter. It is one of five planets visible to the naked eye from Earth.                                            2.S hortest Day   Jupiter turns on its axis once every 9 hours and 55 minutes. It has the shortest day of all the planets.                             3. Year    Due to the large distance of Jupiter from sun, it orbits the Sun once every 11.9 Earth year...

Mars Planet   Mars is the fourth planet from the Sun and is the second smallest planet in the solar system. Named after the Roman god of war, Mars is also often described as the “Red Planet” due to its reddish appearance. Mars is a terrestrial planet with a thin atmosphere composed primarily of carbon dioxide. 1.Red Planet    Mars is also often described as the “Red Planet” due to its reddish appearance. 2.Tallest Mountain    Olympus Mons is 21 km high and 600 km in diameter. Despite having formed over billions of years, evidence from volcanic lava flows is so recent many scientists believe it could still be active. 3. Surface Area    Mars has almost as much surface as Earth has land - but that doesn't account for the 71 percent of Earth that's covered in water. 4.Ice Caps   Like Earth, only Mars has ice caps at its poles. The northern cap is up to 2 miles (3.2 km) deep and covers an area slightly larger than Texas 5. Lar...

Planet Earth(Our Home)     Earth is the third planet from the Sun and is the largest of the terrestrial planets. Earth is the only planet whose English name does not derive from Greek/Roman mythology.  1.Size and Shape     Earth is not perfectly spherical in shape. it has Equatorial Diameter(12,756 km)  and Polar Diameter( 12,714 km)             " At the equator, one would weigh less than if standing at one of the poles" 2.Densest Planet    The Earth is the densest planet in the Solar System. The average density of the Earth is approximately 5.52 grams per cubic  centimeter. 3. Speed Of earth   The Rotation speed of earth is close to 1000 miles per hour (1600 km/hr) whereas It's also moving around the sun at 67,000 miles (107,826 km) per hour 4. Age   Researchers calculate the age of the Earth by dating both the oldest rocks on the planet and meteor...

Venus Venus is the second planet from the Sun and is the second brightest object in the night sky after the Moon. Named after the Roman goddess of love and beauty, Venus is the second largest terrestrial planet. 1.Size     Venus is nearly as big as the Earth with a diameter of 12,104 km.   Venus having 81.5% of the Earth’s mass. Both also have a central core, a molten mantle and a crust. Therefore,Venus is often called the Earth’s sister planet. 2.Hottest Planet     The dense atmosphere of around 96.5 percent carbon dioxide traps heat and causes a greenhouse effect, therefore the average surface temperature is 462 °C,even Venus does not tilt on its axis, there is no seasonal variation 3.Brightest Planet     The brightest object in the sky after sun and Moon is not a star but a planet which is Venus. Therefore Venus is sometimes referred to as the “morning star” and “evening star” 4. Day and year It takes 243 Earth days to...
